Kat HorstmannKatherine “Kat” Horstmann, Social Impact Strategist

Kat is a creative practitioner and design researcher deeply interested in the relationship between the body and built/natural environment. She spent nine formative years in New York City and during that time worked in affordable housing design research and advocacy, as well as social impact documentary filmmaking. Her thesis project, Beauty is a Verb, continues to inspire and inform her creative practice, and has taken multiple forms since her time in the Theories of Urban Practice MA program at Parsons, The New School for Design. She made the move to Austin in October 2018 and began teaching yoga and working as an administrator at a yoga preschool (yes, it’s a real thing). She had her first child in April 2020 and is thrilled to join the WNT team supporting coalitions that directly contribute to positive social change. One of her dreams is to leave some small corner of the world better, and to show her daughter that better is always possible. In her free time, you can find Kat teaching yoga around Austin, metalsmithing in the studio, or nature bathing with her active toddler, husband and their pup, Peaches.
